Boerum Hill is a small neighborhood in the northwestern portion of of Brooklyn, bounded by Schermerhorn Street to the north and Fourth Avenue to the east. It dates back to the 1860s and has the typical tree-lined cobblestone streets with townhouses on either side. Originally a working class neighborhood, it has reinvented itself as more family-oriented similar to its sister neighborhoods, Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens. Exotic restaurants, boutiques, and shops can be found on Smith Street and Atlantic Avenue. Plus, it has convenient access to many of the subway lines that take you right into Manhattan.
