The events of September 11, 2001 demolished the twin towers of the World Trade Center and placed Lower Manhattan in a halt. This was however short-lived because of the city and federal government’s decision to rebuild and rezone the area. Many office buildings have since been converted to apartments with doorman and amenities similar to 5-star hotels, such as resident’s lounges, massive gyms and roof decks. Outside of Wall Street, the Financial District seems not so financial at all; food and drinks abound at South Street Seaport, The Oculus, Stone Street and Fulton street fish market. You will find many if not all subway lines just a couple of blocks apart. This is one of the fastest growing regions in Manhattan.
