The Upper East Side is chic and classy, safe and charming. Door attendants receive your visitors and marble foyers open into grand ballrooms in this sophisticated neighborhood. Quintessential living was essentially invented here. Kids and grown-ups alike walk with ice cream sundaes after a spending the day with exotic wildlife at Manhattan's zoo. A majority of pre-war co-ops and condos populate the main avenues, but townhouses, high-rises and luxury doorman buildings are all around the corner. East of Lexington Avenue rents get cheaper, except for places right on the river. A short walk to Central Park and easily accessed by subway, the Upper East Side’s is convenient to get around and this will only get better with the new second avenue line under construction.
