Hell's Kitchen, also known as Clinton, is a neighborhood on the far west side of Manhattan between 42nd Street and 59th Street. Until the nineties it had a reputation of poor and working-class Irish Americans and gang violence. Now, its proximity to Midtown and the Theatre District has attracted the hip and young. It is surprisingly close to the green lawns of Central Park and 9th avenue features everything you need for a great night out. Clinton features a diverse mix of housing and with lots of 4-6 story walk-ups there are still options for those on a budget. The luxury condominiums are pricy but you do get amazing New York City views. The A, C and E trains run up and down 8th avenue.
